West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church

Artistic Collaboration between the West Shore’s Aesthetics Committee and Undoing Oppressions

“Rising Above” features the artistic expressions of two local artists, Alsie Clay and Santanna Watson.

Alsie Clay is a Kinetic Energy Worker and a certified Teaching Artist. Alsie has been inspired by her years of experience, as a registered nurse, with a background in Gestalt and Diversity Management psychology, to assist people of all ability levels, to create art. Her favorite artistic media include energetic watercolor, gemstone jewelry creation, clothing design, kinetic sand mandalas, and meaningful digital art pieces.

Santanna Watson is an “emotional painter” who views art as a door to enlightenment and as a form of therapy. The idea behind his art work is to recognize “Beauty within Chaos.” In art, Santanna recycles various textures, mediums, and recyclables to create unique bodies of artwork that suggest this same idea to the viewer which is creating beauty from chaos.
